General Information:  The Resource Planner will be responsible for preparing system load estimates and generation schedules as well as monitoring operating conditions. The Resource Planner will work under the supervision of the Power Planning Supervisor.  

Essential Job Functions:

  • Preparing hourly system load estimates and generation schedules
  • Monitoring the status of operating conditions and contract accounts
  • Arranging, communicating and confirming hourly interchange and transmission schedules (internally and externally) consistent with the District's load and resource objectives, contractual requirements and applicable reliability standards
  • Assisting others with the preparation or maintenance of the District's various power accounting records and reports
  • Performing necessary power accounting functions in the absence of others within the power planning group
  • Communicating in a respectful and cooperative manner
  • This position may require an early morning or later day work schedule
  • Occasional out-of-town travel will be required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Applicants for this position should possess experience, education and ability in as many of the following areas as possible:

  • Familiarity with electric utility interchange scheduling practices
  • Familiarity with Wells resource operational requirements, other Columbia River basin hydro-electric project operations, District power contracts, power system reliability standards and SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of personal computing and commercial software with an emphasis on strong Excel spreadsheet skills and use of Internet browser-based displays and applications
  • Ability to communicate in a respectful and cooperative manner with diverse groups of people
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well under deadlines and/or occasionally demanding situations
  • Strong analytic ability, business acumen and excellent mathematical skills
  • A valid Washington State driver's license with acceptable driving record

Preferred Education:    Bachelor of Business Administration (or related field) is preferred, however a combination of education and experience may be considered in place of a degree.

This is an administrative position and is, therefore, not subject to any of the conditions contained in the Collective Bargaining Agreement other than those benefits that apply to all employees.
