East Wenatchee, WA – Douglas PUD Commissioner Ron Skagen was appointed to serve on the American Public Power Association (APPA) Executive Board. In announcing the appointment, Douglas PUD General Manager Gary Ivory congratulated Commissioner Skagen and said, "This is a big achievement. It speaks highly of your steady, respected leadership in the industry. It is a great opportunity for both you and Douglas PUD." Skagen will serve as one of nine executives at the head of this national public power organization with over 2,000 pubic power member utilities.
"I'm honored to be chosen to serve on the APPA Executive Board," said Skagen. "I'm looking forward to learning more and being pushed to a higher level by the other utility industry leaders on the board. I appreciate that Douglas PUD has always encouraged commissioners and staff to grow and been given opportunities to improve. It's a part of who we are."
Skagen took office as Commissioner for Douglas PUD in January, 2007, and is currently President of the Board. He was also president of the Washington Public Utility Districts Association in 2017-2018.
