Low Water Use Landscaping

Garden1.jpg

The Washington State University Chelan County Master Gardeners approached the Commission with the idea of installing a low water use landscaping demonstration near the new entrance created after our building addition in 2004. Jan Smith provided the landscape design and the WSU Master Gardeners grew the plants from seed and assisted in the planting. Often refered to as xeriscape, this method of landscaping is estimated to need 2-3 inches of water per year in contrast to a lawn which needs 36-40 inches of water per year.  We hope you enjoy this demonstration of low water use landscaping.
