GENERAL INFORMATION: The Groundskeeper is responsible for performing landscape and grounds maintenance duties at District owned properties throughout Douglas, Chelan and Okanogan Counties. This position is seasonal and typically runs from March to November. Work schedule will be Monday – Friday. The Groundskeeper reports to the Facilities Manager.

Core Job duties: Perform landscaping tasks such as; installing sod, laying bark and rock, edging, pruning, weeding, fertilizing, watering, and debris removal. Maintain turf and planting beds, clean sidewalks and parking lot areas. Use hand tools to dig, rake, hedge and prune. Use small power tools such as leaf blowers, chain saws, grass trimmers and hedge clippers. Clean and maintain tools used in daily work. Operate mowers and spray equipment. Install and maintain sprinkler and drip irrigation systems. The Groundskeeper may operate vehicles; District vehicles may be equipped with a GPS device that monitors vehicle location. Other duties may be assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Completion of a high school education or equivalent
Experience in landscaping or grounds keeping
Ability to read and safely follow directions
Ability to safely use manual tools and power tools to complete work
Good computer skills including Outlook and MS Word
Ability to communicate and cooperate with co-workers
Current First Aid/CPR certification
Pesticide and/or Herbicide applicator's license is a plus, but not required
A current Washington State Driver License with proof of a good driving record
Candidate must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English

This position requires physically demanding work on a daily basis. Candidates must be able to perform work outdoors in hot, cold, smoky, noisy, and wet environments. Must be able to walk on uneven terrain and be able to frequently lift or carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 60 pounds. Applicant must have full auditory and visual capability in order to work safely in an environment with large moving machinery.
This position is not covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. There is a one-year probationary period associated with this position. The successful applicant must satisfactorily pass a criminal history check and post offer pre-employment drug screening.
