GENERAL INFORMATION: The Utilityman 1 is responsible for cleaning powerplant equipment and related structures, offices, buildings and grounds. This position reports to the Project Superintendent.
Core Job duties: Perform powerplant cleaning duties such as clean and de-grease powerplant equipment, clean and polish floors, wash windows, clean restrooms. The Utilityman 1 must comply with all Wells Dam Safety Manual requirements. The Utilityman 1 may perform duties of a Confined Space Attendant. The Utilityman 1 may operate vehicles; District vehicles may be equipped with a GPS device that monitors vehicle location. Other duties may be assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Completion of a high school education or equivalent
Ability to read and safely follow directions on industrial cleaning supplies
Good computer skills including Outlook and MS Word
Ability to communicate and cooperate with co-workers
Capable of performing semi-skilled duties usually required of a laborer in a hydroelectric project generating station
Ability to operate general cleaning equipment such as floor polishers, sweepers, vacuums
Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment such as high-pressure washers, forklifts, highlifts, scissor lifts and other related equipment
Current First Aid/CPR certification
A current Washington State Driver License with proof of a good driving record

Applicants must be capable of working in an industrial plant environment and conduct cleaning activities in the Powerhouse and in the surrounding Wells Project facilities and grounds. Must be able to walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders and stairwells, perform work in cold, hot and wet environments, and adapt to noisy conditions. Must be able to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds. Applicant must have full auditory and visual capability in order to allow the applicant to safely work in an environment with large moving machinery.
This position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. There is a one-year probationary period associated with this position.
