News Release – April 11, 2022
Douglas County PUD Commissioners Aaron J. Viebrock, Molly Simpson and Ronald E Skagen executed the following actions during the April 11, 2022 Commission meeting held at the District’s East Wenatchee office:
Reviewed bid opening results for bid document 22-16-D, steel poles for the Rapids to Valhalla Transmission Line. All bids will be evaluated prior to award recommendation.
Affirmed change order No. 3 to Contract 21-33-D, Hydrogen and Lincoln Rock Switchyard Utility Installations. Due to delays for various reasons, the contract completion date will be extended to June 30, 2022. (22-067)
Authorized acceptance of work and final payment to Galvanizers, Inc. under Contract 21-48-D, standard shape steel for Urban Industrial Substation. All work is complete and determined to meet bid specifications. (22-068)
Approved award of contract 22-16-D, steel poles for the Rapids to Valhalla Transmission Line to Transamerican Power Products, Inc. the lowest responsive bidder. (22-069)
Authorized award of contract 22-25-D, provide Distribution tree trimming services to Asplundh Tree Experts, LLC the lowest responsive bidder. (22-070)
Approved a call for bids under bid document 22-33-D, wood transmission poles necessary for the construction of the Rocky Reach to Chelan Falls Transmission Line Project. (22-071)
Authorized approval of an underground utility easement with Chelan PUD to provide power to an adjacent property owner. It is not anticipated to interfere with future utilization of this property. (22-072)
Approved an easement for the installation and use of an irrigation pumping facility with White Brewster III, LLC. (22-073)
Authorized change order No. 2 to Contract 21-49-D, construct Urban Industrial Substation. Changes include an increase in cost for rocky footing drilling and a thermal backfill for the trench. This will increase the not to exceed cost $281,027. (22-074)
Approved award of contract 21-51-D, Fiber Optic Cable Installation to Cascade Cable Constructors, INC. After receiving no bids, a contract which meets the terms and conditions of the original bid was negotiated. (22-075)
Authorized a Professional Service Agreement for RFQ 22-21-W, professional archaeological services, Wells Hydroelectric Project with RLR Cultural Resources. (22-076)
Approved a Request for Qualifications 22-34-W, Spencer Canyon Fault Evaluation. Necessary to find a professional consulting firm that is capable of investigating, evaluating and studying the extent and seismic hazard of the Spencer Canyon fault. (22-077)
Authorized change order No. 94 to Contract 06-41-W, Generator Rebuild and Unit Refurbishment for the Wells Hydroelectric Project. This change incorporates miscellaneous extra work previously authorized for the 4th, 5th and 6th units. This will increase the contract $2,367,029 and bring the total not-to-exceed amount to $233,381,383. (22-078)
Approved a contract with American Babbitt for Generator Thrust Bearing Shoe refurbishment at the Wells Hydroelectric Project. This contract will not exceed $57,000. (22-079)
Authorized a Professional Service Agreement 22-28-W, services related to the Wells Board of Consultants wit HDR Engineering, Inc. (22-080)
Heard a report on the Douglas County Community Network. The network currently has 7,167 end users.
The next regular meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. April 25, 2022 at the District’s East Wenatchee Office.
