News Release – September 26, 2022

Douglas County PUD Commissioners Aaron J. Viebrock, Molly Simpson and Ronald E Skagen executed the following actions during the September 26, 2022 Commission meeting held at the District’s East Wenatchee office:

Commissioner Viebrock, Gary Ivory, Commissioner Simpson, Commissioner Skagen

Awarded Gary Ivory, General Manager with his twenty-five year service award. Commissioner Viebrock thanked Gary on behalf of the citizens of Douglas County for his years of service. He thanked the Commission, talked about various roles he has had at the utility and said “It’s been a privilege to work with very professional and intelligent employees here at the District. The values of the District are on the forefront of our minds. It is a great time to be in the utility industry.” Commissioner Skagen stated that he is grateful for Gary’s service especially during these interesting and challenging times in the industry.

Reviewed bid opening results for bid document 22-55-W, Methow Hatchery residence. All bids will be evaluated prior to recommendation for contract award.

Authorized acceptance of work and final payment to Hitachi Energy USA, Inc. under contract 21-42-D, 230 kV instrument transformers for Urban Industrial Substation. All work is complete and determined to meet bid specifications. (22-164)

Approved a call for bids under bid document 22-22-D, Douglas to Rapids intertie steel transmission poles. Necessary to interconnect two substations. (22-165)

Authorized land use permit 311-03, Erik Vordahl and Anne Murray. The permit is for use of Project lands for existing boat dock, landscaping, compost pile, retaining wall and fencing. (22-166)

Approved award of contract 21-52-W, generator step-up transformer replacement at the Wells Hydroelectric Project to Olsson Industrial Electric the lowest responsive bidder. (22-167)

Authorized change order No. 4 to contract 21-57-W, Unit 7 spillway and gate repair at the Wells Hydroelectric Project. This will allow for and increased scope of work to address unforeseen conditions identified during reassembly at an increased cost of $284,765 and a time extension to December 31, 2022. (22-168)

Heard a report on the Douglas County Community Network. The network currently has 7,480 end users.

The next regular meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. October 10, 2022 at the District’s East Wenatchee Office.
