News Release – May 8, 2023
Douglas County PUD Commissioners Ronald E. Skagen, Aaron J. Viebrock and Molly Simpson executed the following actions during the May 8, 2023 Commission meeting held at the District’s East Wenatchee office:
Continued the hearing on Connected Load Fees. General Manager Gary Ivory discussed previous comments. After no further comments were received on the Connected Load Fees hearing, it was closed.
Reviewed bid opening results for Bid document 23-11-D, Urban Industrial to Rapids steel structures. All bids will be evaluated prior to a recommendation for contract award.
Approved acceptance of work and final payment to Stella Jones Inc. under contract 22-33-D, wood transmission poles. All work is complete and determined to meet bid specifications. (23-088)
Awarded contract 23-11-D, Urban Industrial to Rapids steel structures to Western Utility Telecom, Inc. the lowest responsive bidder. (23-089)
Authorized release of easement for the Edgeview Estates Development. The existing overhead easement will be replaced with an underground easement. (23-090)
Approved land use permit 5A-01 (32), Chaplin Inc. The permit is for use of Project lands for existing temporary joint-use dock, pump house and irrigation pipelines. (23-091)
Authorized land use permit 88C-01, Elmo Cook. The permit is for use of Project lands for existing fence and lawn. (23-092)
Approved change order No. 1 to contract 22-54-W, fire protection system upgrades and miscellaneous piping at the Wells Hydroelectric Project. Changes include an increased scope of work for replacement or relocation of related miscellaneous piping systems. These changes will increase the contract cost $199,797 and extend the completion date to September 30, 2023. (23-093)
Authorized change order No. 1 to contract 22-57-W, Spillway and Spillway Gate maintenance at the Wells Hydroelectric Project. Changes include an increased scope of work to address several unforeseen conditions and eliminate a portion of the scope of work that will not be necessary. These changes increase the contract cost $366,369. (23-094)
Approved execution of a construction agreement with the US Department of Energy – Bonneville Power Administration. Necessary to re-conductor the Rapids-Hanna-Valhalla 115kV transmission line. (23-095)
Authorized a facilities cost contribution agreement for Sabey Facilities. Necessary to provide the previously authorized capacity from the Pangborn Substation. (23-096)
Approved increasing the VISA Business credit card limit with Washington Trust Bank to $40,000 due to increased online business transactions. (23-097)
Starting in July, the regular meeting of the Commission will be held on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 1:30pm in the East Wenatchee office.
The next regular meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. May 22, 2023 at the District’s Wells Hydroelectric Project.
