Douglas County PUD Commissioners Molly Simpson and Aaron J. Viebrock executed the following actions during the December 10, 2018 Commission meeting held at the District’s East Wenatchee office:

Commissioner Viebrock, Brent Darnell, Commissioner Simpson
Awarded Assistant System Operator Brent Darnell with his twenty year service award. Commissioner Viebrock thanked Brent on behalf of the citizens of Douglas County for his years of service. Brent thanked the Commission and said “I’m grateful for the past twenty years here. I’m part of a great team and the years have gone fast. I look forward to many years to come.”
Authorized use of Voluntary Employees’ Beneficiary Association (VEBA) Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) for employees retiring in 2019. This allows the deposit of a percentage of the employee’s accrued personal leave at retirement into the VEBA-HRA. (18-208)
Approved engagement letters with Cordell, Neher & Company for deferred compensation plan administration. (18-209)
Authorized renewal of contract 16-25-W, Hatchery Wells and Pump Maintenance for an additional one-year period with Irrigation Technology and Control, Inc. (18-210)
Approved change order No. 2 to contract 16-32-W, 2017-2018 heavy equipment services for the Wells Hydroelectric Project. Necessary for forebay debris removal. This change will increase the contract $27,000 bringing the total not-to-exceed cost to $532,000. (18-211)
Authorized change order No. 2 to contract 16-33-W, 2017-2018 forebay debris removal services for the Wells Hydroelectric Project. Necessary to perform additional unexpected debris removal services due to an unusually high volume of debris in the forebay. This change will increase the contract $66,000 bringing the total not-to-exceed cost to $416,000. (18-212)
Approved change order No. 1 to contract 17-01-W, upgrade the 300T Gantry Crane at the Wells Hydroelectric Project. Changes were necessary to improve the operation and life safety of the gantry crane and extend the life of the crane for another 40 years. This change will increase the contract $433,475 bringing the total not-to-exceed cost to $7,849,860. (18-213)
Authorized acceptance of work and final payment to Rains Contracting Inc. under contract 18-01-W, Columbia Cove Park shoreline stabilization. All work has been completed and determined to meet the bid specifications. (18-214)
Approved award of small works bid to Knight Construction and Supply, Inc. to repair Spillgate 9 at the Wells Hydroelectric Project. This contract will not exceed $74,453. (18-215)
Authorized a professional service agreement with Donnor Inc. DBA Badger Mountain Productions. Douglas PUD has a need to document District activities on an ongoing basis. (18-216)
Approved the funding request of North Central Educational Service District (NCESD) in the amount of $32,427 for the 2018-2019 school year. In effect since 1988, agreements between Douglas PUD and NCESD have been established to provide educational curriculum for every kindergarten through fifth grade student in Douglas County. Classes pertain to electrical generation, electric distribution, conservation, safety and wise use of water resources. This funding also provides for fourth grader participation in the River of Power program. (18-217)
Authorized land use permit 630A-02 to Ed Tradup Small Block LLC. The permit is for use of Project lands for a joint use dock, lawn/landscaping and use of existing irrigation pump, pipe and underground electrical. (18-218)
Approved the sale of real property to Douglas County Fire District No. 2. The District has 2.07 acres of property by the Rapids Switchyard in Rock Island that has been found suitable for development of a fire station. (18-219)
Heard a report on the Douglas County Community Network. The network currently has 4,599 end users.
