News Release – 5/10/2021

Douglas County PUD Commissioners Aaron J. Viebrock, Molly Simpson and Ronald E Skagen executed the following actions during the May 10, 2021 Commission meeting held at the District’s East Wenatchee office:

Authorized a call for bids under bid document 21-09-D, construct Lincoln Rock Switchyard. This switchyard will provide a more reliable electrical system. (21-073)

Awarded contract 21-13-D, supply and deliver 230 kV breakers to East Wenatchee to Carlson Sales Metering Solutions LLC., the lowest responsive bidder. (21-074)

Approved a call for bids under bid document 21-30-D, supply and deliver tubular steel poles for the Rapids to Columbia 230 kV Transmission Line. (21-075)

Authorized change order No. 2 to contract 19-09-W, replacement 14.4kV main generator breakers for the Wells Hydroelectric Project. Necessary due to unit outage availability. The change will extend the contract completion date to November 30, 2021. (21-076)

Approved a call for bids under bid document 21-08-W, construction of new well at Wells Hatchery. Necessary to maintain stable and robust water supply. (21-077)

Authorized a call for bids under bid document 21-29-W, rehabilitate Unit 10 trashracks at the Wells Hydroelectric Project. Work would include cleaning and coating one set of 15 trashracks and one set of 3 slot covers for installation in the intakes of Unit 10. (21-078)

Approved signing of a pole attachment license agreement with Charter Communications, LLC. (21-079)

Authorized an Interlocal cooperative agreement with Chelan PUD for Chinook Broodstock collection at Wells Hatchery. This agreement provides cost savings to both utilities by allowing the District to defray some of its operating costs at the Wells Hatchery while also providing Chelan PUD with a reliable source of broodstock for their program. Approved legal services agreement with the Law Firm of Van Ness Feldman, LLP. (21-081)

Heard a report on the Douglas County Community Network. The network currently has 6,546 end users.

Heard that S&P Global Ratings raised the District’s long-term rating to AA+ with a stable outlook. Full report can be found here.

The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. May 24, 2021 at the District’s Wells Hydroelectric Project. The District Office is closed to the public in response to the COVID-19 guidance from Governor Inslee.
