News Release – January 24, 2022

Douglas County PUD Commissioners Aaron J. Viebrock, Molly Simpson and Ronald E Skagen executed the following actions during the January 24, 2022 Commission meeting held at the District’s East Wenatchee office:

Awarded Rene’ Rowton, Confidential Secretary with her twenty-five year service award. Commissioner Viebrock thanked Rene’ on behalf of the citizens of Douglas County for her years of service. Rene’ thanked the commission, talked about her movement through the PUD and said “It seems like just last year I was getting my 20 year service award. It’s a great place to work.”

Opened bids under bid document 21-51-D, fiber optic cable installation. All bids will be evaluated prior to contract award recommendation.

Reviewed bid opening results under bid document 22-08-W, Methow Hatchery Residence. All bids will be evaluated prior to contract award recommendation.

Affirmed change order No. 1 to contract 21-35-D, 15kV breakers for Urban Industrial Substation. This extends the completion date to January 18, 2022. (22-007)

Awarded contract 21-57-W, Unit 7 spillway and gate repair at the Wells Hydroelectric Project to Garco/WEMCO, the lowest responsive bidder. (22-008)

Approved a call for bids under bid document 22-02-D, supply and deliver 1272 ACSR and 1429 ACCC overhead conductor necessary for the Rapids to Columbia Transmission Line Project. (22-009)

Authorized a call for bids under bid document 22-17-W, Methow Hatchery groundwater valve replacement necessary for a stable and robust water supply. (22-010)

Approved execution of a Compressed Air Medical Directors Agreement with Columbia Valley Community Health. The District is required to appoint one or more licensed physicians trained in the physical requirements and the medical aspects of compressed air work and the treatment of decompression illness. (22-011)

Authorized renewal of non-owned aircraft liability insurance with Starr Aviation. (22-012)

Approved change order No. 93 to contract 06-41-W, generator rebuild for unit refurbishment for the Wells Hydroelectric Project. This change incorporates miscellaneous extra work previously authorized for the 5th unit. This will increase the contract $4,306,400 and bring the total not-to-exceed amount to $231,014,354. Authorized a call for bids under bid document 22-04-D, construct Rapids to Columbia 230kV Transmission line. (22-014)

Approved a call for bids under bid document 22-12-D, construct Hydrogen Facility Production building. (22-015)

Authorized the City of Brewster 2022 Operations and Maintenance budget for recreation facilities. The District’s portion is $76,273 and is required by the Wells Project license. (22-016)

Approved the City of Pateros 2022 Operations and Maintenance budget for recreation facilities. The District’s portion is $76,273 and is required by the Wells Project license. (22-017)

Heard a report on the Douglas County Community Network. The network currently has 6,989 end users.

The next regular meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. February 7, 2022 at the District’s East Wenatchee Office.
