News Release – July 2, 2024

Douglas County PUD Commissioners Ronald E. Skagen, Aaron J. Viebrock and Molly Simpson executed the following actions during the July 2, 2024 Commission meeting held at the District’s East Wenatchee office:

Reviewed the bid opening results for bid docs 24-25-D, 230-115kV Autotransformer for Douglas Switchyard and 24-27-D, furnish 144 count fiber optic transmission cable. All bids will be evaluated prior to a recommendation for contract award.

Approved Railroad Right-of-Way permit RR54B-01, Cascade Columbia Holdings, LLC. The permit is for use of Project lands for existing orchard, equipment storage access roads and two railroad crossings. (24-064)

Authorized land use permit 54B-02, 59-02, Cascade Columbia Holdings, LLC. The permit is for use of Project lands for existing firepit, storage shed and access roads. (24-065)

Approved land use permit 88C-02, Shawn O’Connell. The permit is for use of Project lands for existing lawn. (24-066)

Authorized change order No. 106 to contract 06-41-W, generator rebuild and unit refurbishment for the Wells Hydroelectric Project. Changes incorporate generator work on Unit 1 at an increased cost of $13,350,000. (24-067)

Approved notice to proceed for the tenth unit generator work under contract 06-41-W with Toshiba America Energy Systems Corporation. (24-068)

Authorized amendment No. 11 to professional service agreement with Electrical Consultants, Inc. under contract 20-33-D, electrical substation design work. An increase of $830,000 to the contract is necessary to finish additional design work. (24-069)

Approved change order No. 9 to contract 22-13-D, hydrogen production and fueling facility. Changes include field work orders for fabrication and installation of vent stack and support structure, changes to cabling routing, craning services, increased pipe size for compressor water supply and relocation of master safety PLC at an increased cost of $283,079. (24-070)

Heard a report on the Douglas County Community Network. The network currently has 8,247 end users.

The next regular meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. July 16, 2023 at the District’s East Wenatchee Office.
